Perm A vite® Intestinal Permeability Formula - Hypoallergenic
Back To Previous Page
Perm A vite® has been changed back to the previous formulation.  Allergy Research Group® has removed Gamma Oryzanol and put back in the Intestinal Glandular Complex with Epithelial Growth Factor and stevia. Designed to support the body’s production of healthy epithelial tissue lining the GI tract.* Degradation of the intestinal lining results in intestinal permeability, also known as “leaky gut”. The condition of “leaky gut” has been associated with symptoms of allergy or sensitivity, mental fog, bodily aches and pains, and recurring unfriendly microbial infestations. When intestinal integrity is maintained these symptoms may potentially be reduced.*  Fast acting.

The health and integrity of the epithelial lining of the gastrointestinal tract is important for proper absorption of nutrients, for maintaining healthy microbial balance in the gut, and a state of homeostasis throughout the body.  When increased intestinal permeability (also known as "leaky gut") exists within the gastrointestinal tract, an environment conducive to inadequate absorption of nutrients and increased absorption of toxins, pathogenic bacteria and inflammatory substances exists, potentially leading to weakened immunity and compromised health.  Dietary supplementation with nutrients the body uses to produce healthy epithelial tissue, regulate transit time, and balance microbiology may support gastrointestinal health.  Digestive support may also benefit individuals with increased intestinal permeability. *

Increased intestinal permeability is common among individuals with chronic stress, allergies, and microbial infestations. Weakened immunity, including conditions of hypo-immunity and auto-immunity, may involve "leaky gut".  Consumption of foods processed with chemical additives and preservatives, having low levels of nutritional value, as well as caffeine and alcohol consumption may lead to an increase in intestinal permeability.  The over use of drugs, both prescription and over the counter, environmental contaminants such as car exhaust, perfumes and cleaning chemicals are also potential avenues to developing increased intestinal permeability.*

Description of Perm A vite® Intestinal Permeability Formula (Hypoallergenic) from Allergy Research Group®:

Perm A vite® powder provides a blend of natural materials that may participate in maintaining the normal structure and functions of the gastrointestinal tract.  Over the past several years there has been increasing appreciation of the significance of the integrity of the intestinal barrier in relations to the health of the entire body.  A large body of literature now describes the phenomenon known as "leaky gut" syndrome or "intestinal hyperpermeability" disorder, which is characterized by abnormal permeability of the gut to potentially toxic or antigenic materials.  Inflammation of the bowels, alcoholism, rheumatic conditions, allergic disorders, pain, immune disorders and numerous other conditions have been associated with abnormal gut permeability. *

A related phenomenon, the subject of even more scientific attention, is bacterial translocation - the absorption of whole bacteria or bacterial endotoxins across the gut walls into the lymph glands, liver, lungs, and other organs.  Fulminant bacteria can translocate and the associated endotoxemia can result in multiple organ stress, dysfunction and failure.  A variety of natural materials have been shown in experimental and clinical studies to enhance the protective and barrier functions of the gut walls, and hence to diminish hyper-permeability and bacterial translocation. *

Cellulose and Slippery Elm:  These materials supply insoluble and soluble varieties of fiber, both of which have a role in supporting intestinal health.  The soluble fibers are fermented in the gut by healthy bacteria, releasing short-chain fatty acids such as acetate and butyrate, preferential fuel sources of intestinal cells.  These fatty acids, in turn, provide direct intraluminal nutrition to the gut walls, enhancing their integrity and barrier function.  Cellulose, which is almost pure insoluble fiber, acts in a mechanical fashion (like a "broom"), having the main effects of regulating transit time and enhancing the binding and elimination of waste and toxins, thereby decreasing potential irritation to the intestines. *

L-Glutamine:  This amino acid is important for proper intestinal immune function and as a fuel source for colonocyte repair and maintenance.  The significance of glutamine for the gut is underscored by the effects of an experimentally induced deficiency, which causes diarrhea, villous atrophy, mucosal ulceration and intestinal necrosis. *

Epithelial Growth Factor:  Epithelial Growth Factor is a polypeptide that has a variety of biological effects that are relevant to gastrointestinal integrity and barrier function.  It inhibits gastric acid secretion, promotes gastric healing, and may participate in the local defense of the duodenum.  One study demonstrated a synergy of glutamine with epithelial growth factor in thickening the small intestine wall.  In sum, epithelial growth factor is established as a protective cytokine for the stomach, and it appears to be involved in maintaining the structure and integrity of the whole gastrointestinal tract. *

N-Acetyl-D-glucosamine (NAG):  NAG is a principal constituent of mucopolysaccharides and is thus a vital compound in connective tissue.  The gastric and gut epithelium is very rich in mucopolysaccharides which are involved in maintaining structural integrity.  Furthermore, supplemental NAG has been used both internally and externally to speed wound-healing. NAG also appears to be a probiotic factor which stimulates the growth of favorable bacterial flora while opposing the growth of some pathogens (e.g. Candida albicans). *

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane):  MSM is a precursor source of sulfur for cysteine and methionine.  Incorporation of MSM-derived sulfur into methionine is regulated by a limiting step involving micro-organisms in the intestinal lumen.  These amino acids are necessary for the health and function of the intestinal tract.  Furthermore, MSM has been shown to delay chemically-induced colon cancer tumor onset in animals, and therefore may be an important protector of, and anti-irritant in, the colon. *

Allergy Research Group®, Inc.

*Hypoallergenic Defined:  According to Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary "hypoallergenic" is defined as:  "Diminished potential for causing an allergic reaction."   Allergy Research Group® defines hypoallergenic as "Free of all common allergens", specifically, wheat, corn, soy, gluten, yeast, dairy, and eggs. Many very sensitive individuals who reach to supplements in general, are able to tolerate Allergy Research Group® product.  Since our inception in 1979, we have been using only the purest, and whenever possible, the lowest allergy potential natural ingredients.  And while many of the nutrients in our formulas are synthesized from natural substances (plant sources), which as a whole may contain antigens, the synthesizing process removes the molecules of the desired nutrient from the original substance, and in the processing a great percentage of the antigens and allergens are left behind. The final material then has extremely low allergy potential.  This is not to say that no one will react to any of our hypoallergenic formulas, as some extremely sensitive people may.  However, the potential for an allergic reaction is low, and the feedback from many of our extremely allergic and sensitive customers is that Allergy Research Group® supplements are the only products they are able to tolerate.  (For further information about Allergy Research Group, click on their information link above)
